Canyon boat for the weekend warrior?

    Center console or express/flybridge sportfish?

Whats the best compromise of cost, safety, maintenance, comfort, convenience, fishability, efficiency? Cost IS a factor, lets set the budget at $150k

I run a 32' diesel express, but every year at spring and fall maintenance time I wonder if there is a better way to do my 8-10 trips to the edge. Many factors to consider, I hope you guys can help me flush them out

Maybe some kind of walk around with a small cabin but still enough fishing room. To make it worth the while.

Also I would consider repowering the blackfin. Im sure you kind a pair of reconditioned cummins in 330+hp range that make the boat cruise faster and also get better economy.

    Double D

I am in the same boat (HA-HA) as you. i am in Manasquan, in the glimmer glass. I have a 29 ft. twin diesel Topaz. I do about 5 day trolls to the canyons. The rest of the time i am striper fishing or chasing Bluefin inshore. I am thinking I may be better off with a center console.

I have a CC and I have owned an express, the CC is alot of fun, fast, and alot less maintanance ......all I say is stay with a higher end CC and larger than 30'.....regulator, contender, yellowfin all are good choices

You will find yourself fishing more with a large CC than an express

    Good luck looking

Really? I thought it would be the other way around due to weather windows

How are the overnighters in a cc?

Double D there really are not many days I would not run out to the canyons.
As long as you have a good enclosure you can run in any weather you want to run in.

My boat for instant at with the tabs down does not pound at all at 20 to 25 knots and will carve its way through anything.

Sure I can step it up and run 30 35 in big seas but you will take a few major pounds no doubt.

    Over nighters?
This last summer I did not fish much but the summer before we layed out over 30 times on my cc.
The year before I would say over 40 times.
Fishing on a over nighter on a cc is just that fishing! You will fish and fish and fish as there really is nothing else to do but fish.
You have 30 foot of rod holders down the side of the boat so the spread in the water is amazing.

Bean Bags man and you will sleep like a baby.

You loose the storage of a cabin boat but if you dont mind loading or unloading then it no big deal. Good weigh to stay inshape.

Im putting mine for sale here in a few weeks at 140k as the whole boat has been upgraded to alot of the 07 features and will be getting a new cc as I have the need for speed.
Nothing like leaving at 5 pm riding out at 49 knots.

    8-10 trips?

Charter another boat and never have to worry about anything...and go on a bigger nicer boat!
