    Cancun Fishing

Heading down to Cancun at the end of Feb. hoping to hook up with a charter or two while I'm there for 8 days. Does anyone have the inside track on who to see or what to fish for this time of year down there? I hear the sailfish and roosterfish are the hot items to go after. Does anyone know if that's true? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it is sailfish you are after do yourself a favor and hop on the ferry over to Isla Mujeres. End of February will still have very good sailfishing and I think some of the US boats over there may have some open dates. Feel free to contact me and I will put you in touch with with them. Cancun/Isla is one of the best places to practice catching billfish on circle hooks.

Plenty of Sailfishing to be done either out of Marina Hacienda Del mar in Cancun (I would recommend the Pumpin Hard with Capt. Gary Stamm), or out of Enrique Limas or Puerto Isla Mujeres on ISla.

There are no Roosterfish in Cancun.

Good luck. Be sure to Check out El Taco Lote's for some good food and Los Pericos for a good meal with entertainment.

Head over to Isla Mujeres. Puerto Isla at VillaVera has tons of great boats. We just got back from fishing on Bi-Op-Sea, a 59 Spencer. We had 52 sails in less than 3 days.

Unless you are into the bass thumping party scene, taking a couple of those days and staying on Isla would be well worth it. Small, safe, and great fishing. Rent a golf cart, grab a sixer of Imperial, and let go. One of my favorite places on earth.

    I miss it so much
