Cancun in early February
Hi -
I just found out that I'll be able to add a couple of days to a work trip to Cancun in early February and want to try to get some fishing in while I'm there.
I've always fished out of Wanchese and am excited to get after the sails if I can but had a couple of questions for those who have been before:
Is it possible to do a walk-on or make-up type trip? So far I'll be the only one out of my group fishing and wasn't sure about swinging a full charter solo.
Any recommendations on Boats?
I am staying in Cancun - should I try to get over to Isla?
Everything I've seen says this is pretty early in the season down there - should I bail on the sails and stick to the inshore and bottom fishing?
Any other advice I should take?
Thanks in advance -
Walter

Isla Sails
Walter,
You will be there during prime time for sails. There will be many Carolina boats there at that time. I think most if not all will be in Isla.
I fished there a couple years ago with Arch Bracher on his boat the Pelican. We fished 2 days, the first was rough as hell but still caught 16. Day 2 was beauitful and we caught 24 out of probably 40 bites. We should ahve done better but is was still a great day.
I know Arch is going to be there running a local boat the Keen M, I think.
Also, Jesse on the Bi-op-Sea will be there as well.
I have attached both of their web sites. Give them a call and they might be able to help or at least know someone else that might. They are both first class.

You should do everything you can to get out for it is world class when comes to sails.
I wish I could go back but have to work.
Good luck and post a report when you get back.

Walter,
We will be down there on the new Qualifier. We may have some dates available, you would have to talk to Capt. Fin. Check out the new boat on our facebook page. Shoot me a PM and I can get you all Fin's contact info with any information you need. The begining of February is definately the prime time for sailfish, so that is what I would target. We would love to have you.
Chris
