can you skirt a bluefish with a squid skirt?

Honestly, i wouldn't skirt a whole blue. Its big enough in the water to draw attention from quite a distance. I like nothing bigger than 8lbs. as a whole bait. Even then i usually filet em up. Make sure u use a stinger hook rig if you are using a whole bait like that or a BIG filet.

Its a double hook rig. Sometimes when using big baits, its tough to get a single hook set up to do its job because the bait is so big. Especially on smaller makos.

Makos in comparison to other sharks do funny things. Sometimes instead of coming in and swallowing the whole bait like a tiger or big blue, they'll attempt to saw it in half, missing the hook. Our they'll will chomp on it a bit shredding it, sometimes the hook gets folded over in the bait becoming ineffective.
