Can anyone recommend a good camera for offshore use... mostly taking pictures of fish and such. I'd like for it to be good with action shots obviously!
Thanks in advance for any help.

I bought an Olympus Stylus 12 mp camera this past year. This is my first digital camera and I have about 650 pic's on it now. It is waterproof and drop proof (to 6 ft I think). I carry it fishing and hunting. I still don't know much about it, but I can tell you it takes some extremely clear pic's. I still don't have the camera to the computer thing figured out, but have put over 600 pic's onto CD's, the zoom in clarity is awesome. I bought extra memory, battery, case and the usual goodie's. I really like it. It will take video too. Frank
Frank would you be able to give me a model number so i can look into yours further?
My sister just told me I can use her old Sony Cyber-Shot... its called super steady shot with 2.5" monitor and is 5.1 mega pixels and model DSC-H1 for what its worth.
I really don't know much about cameras so I have no idea if this will suffice or if I should think about upgrading for what I'm looking for.
Much obliged for any info anyone can offer!
Again I don't know much about digital camera's. I enjoyed taking many pic's with the old camera's I had. Before moving into the digital thing I checked out quite a few folk's camera's that fished with me and a professional photographer. This camera because of the clarity, water proof to 33 ft, drop proof to 6 ft and simplicity (has to be easy for me to use) was the one I choose. So far I have no regret's, not even the price. It is the Olympus Stylus Tough-8000. It has 12 mega pixels, the zoom is out of this world. It's small and does what I want on the boat or in the wood's. Like I said I bought alot of extra memory and the rest of the "goodie's" to make this thing enjoyable. So far, so good. Frank
If your budget can handle it, I'd recommend the Canon EOS 7D. Shoots at 8 frames per second in burst mode so catching action shots is a breeze.
RC
Canon Rebel....easy to use good shots
definitely the canon rebel for the price and how good the picture quality is, it has a high shutter speed so there is no delay when taking a picture, good for split second shots, we use one with a 300mm telephoto to take surfing pictures and it does great, you can buy a variety of lens for whatever it is that you need to use it for though... for sure a good camera for the price
Nikon D90, Frank might be a little over his head with giving advise for camerasStick to the diesels my man!
Do a search on the same question in the archives.
Just figured if this "village idiot" could use it, he'd be a master. No doubt I'm over my head, but is your's waterproof?Haven't hurt mine yet on the boat or in the swamp's. By the way, I've taken lot's of picture's, just don't know how to show em to anybody.
