The Calcutta Wahoo Challenge details
Just wanted to put a reminder out there that the Calcutta Wahoo Challenge is coming up next week. October 22 – 25 in Morehead City NC. Registration is Wednesday Oct 22 from 4pm until 9pm under the big tent at Katherine Davis Park located across the street from the Morehead City waterfront. Fishing starts Thursday Oct 23 – with Captains choice of 2 out of 3 days to fish. Fishing times are 8:30am to 2:30 and weigh ins are on the waterfront right in front of the new bar “Jacks” at 6th street from 3:30pm until 6pm. Rick Cowell of Coral Bay Marina will be the emcee and will broadcast updates on Thunder Country and Kool 94.1 radio stations. There will be a TV crew there to film for the pilot show "Outer Banks Fishing Show" so you could end up on TV! There is plenty going on in the tent after fishing – dinner each night, a raffle and live auction – all the proceeds going to our two charities: Take a Kid Fishing Foundation and Crystal Coast Hospice House.
There are several levels available and the minimum entry fee starts at $500. That pays the top 5 Wahoo caught and a daily each day. There are also prizes for top lady angler and top 5 junior anglers. We have added a small boat level this year for boats under 40’ with a $300 entry fee and it pays the top 3 Wahoo brought in. The ongoing pot for the first 100 lb Wahoo caught is at $8100.00 going into this year’s tournament. There is a TWT and an individual aggregate level as well.
There are still charters available from the Morehead City waterfront: Dancin Outlaw, Impulse, Offshore III, Energizer, and Gulf Stream. I am happy to put anyone who wants to fish in touch with these folks!
For all the information on the tournament please visit the website www.calcuttawahoo.com or let me know if you have any questions about the tournament or if you need any local information. I’ll be online up until the tournament set up starts on Wednesday then the best way to reach me is by calling the tournament headquarters phone number – 252-247-9246.
Hope to see you for fun, friendship and fishing down on the Morehead City waterfront!
