    Brief Kona report

The blue marlin bite has picked up quite a bit the past few days. We were fishing a 6 hour trip today & found success. Put 2 ono & 1 mahi mahi in the boat quickly. so we went live baiting. while dragging around the live bait, we saw a small boat catch & release a nice 400ish blue on the troll. 30-45 minutes later, we get bit. 45-50 minute battle & we had a nice blue marlin boat side. while fighting our fish, watched the SAME SKIFF hook their 2nd blue of the day & they later got that one too. 3 other blues were caught within 1 sq mile of us over that 2 hour period. not a red hot bite, but a nice improving bite here in Kona.

so....what did it weigh? here's a few pics.
btw--I came here to catch blue malin, big blue marlin & to learn how to be proficient at it. this is my biggest blue marlin so far, a personal best.

    EASY THERE JUNIOR!

I'm not saying that it is not a great catch. As a matter of fact, it's a damn nice fish! Just saying that I feel that they should be releasing them unless it's a tourney. If the charter is looking for a photo...the fish is a lot prettier when it's alive in the water! Just think That's one more fish that will never become a grander.

No harm meant. Just my .02 for the day.

From what I remember of Kona, that fish went right to the fish house and is being turned into people food already. AGAIN, whether its a tourney, a personal best, or a grander, it is a dead marlin. So long as it is not wasted, there is no difference, and is A. O. K. in my book. Why is it that the almighty dollar in a tourney makes it ok, but someone's personal best isn't?

    What was the number Jeff?
