well, It makes more sense out of cape may to run south to the stream, towards va/hatt....a few boats do it in the early white marlin bite to try to get the first one of the year. since it can be quite a run, they will overnight and fish the morning bite
probably the stream...
I have been reading this write up everytime i have a chance in the "facilities" and it has just got me snapped..
there is a guy who started doing this in florida in 1987 by the last name dwyer.
he said they see numerous 100-175lb tuna, marlin all around and mahi and wahoo.
they work the edge and they claim the fish just like on the inside feed on the colder nutrient rich waters..
it also talks all about how they chase the birds and that is their main fishery is the birds and huge weed lines that form around the edge.. it is anywhere from 60-80 miles and i think it says they leave from port saint lucie fl.. normally around 4am they leave and get back around midnight.
they are doing it a lot lately and it seems to be a big thing.. just wonder if it would be worth a shot up here for a multi day trip sorta thing..
it also talks about this being the only true yellowfin tuna fishery in the florida area...
