Braid to mono knot

What's the best knot to attach 30lb. braid to 20lb. mono backing?

I always use a Uni to Uni knot

I have never had any problems with it, but I am sure there are other ways

I've used the uni 2 uni to attach mono main to mono or fluoro leaders, but I've never worked with braid. Didn't know if it would cut the mono somehow. George Poveromo had a new braid to mono knot in the March SWS. Has anyone used it?

Bimini to Albright is probably one of the strongest options. If you are unlikely to ever get into the backing then I don't think it will matter a lot, but a 12-turn bimini is the only knot you can use with braid that comes close to the actual line test strength. Yes, braid lines always overtest by a good margin, but unlike mono they lose a lot of strength at the knot.

There are no 100% knots with braid - many traditional knots will only get you 50% or less of the actual line strength. The 12-turn bimini tests around 88% with most braided lines.

I love the Albright, but prefer the Reverse Albright (worm knot) when using braid to mono. Still use the bimini for your double...12 turn bimini that is.

back to back uni. Never had one fail me yet. For my striper rods I use 30# power pro and use a 20# leaders. Caught stripers up to 30# no problem

Definatley Uni to Uni...

Uni to Uni. Fairly easy and quick to tie. I've never had one fail. I use them for all of my braid to mono connections...mainline to leader, braid backing to mono topshot, mono backing to braid mainline. 8lb.tackle to 100 lb.

The albright and reverse albright are great knots also. There are several other options as well, but for day in and day out use, the ease and reliability of the uni to uni can't be beat.

Ditto, but in the heavier applications I have started going to the Albright special. The uni to uni has never let down. Also research the "slim beauty" if you want to get crazy.

all are great knots. I have been using the slim beauty with no problems. Braid requires more turns on any knot vs mono . The turns are small. Keep them separated when cinching down and you will avoid problems, or double the braid. Doubling requires more attention when cinching down. Good info in the above posts
