Been usng that knot to spool 100's of reels to date that go all over the world in big game operations, nice small profile clean knot, no one has called to tell us about their fish of a life-time swiiming of with their mono yet.........crossing fingers .....

I lost three Big Somethings last season due to not making enough turns with the braid...also tried wind-ons with the dacron loop...same problem if you don't wrap it multiple times. (had a couple losses with the dacon cutting through the main line mono).

First season with Braid of any kind...have learned and will double up on wraps of knots this year.

Good combo isn't it?

The rule of thumb that says you have to take more turns when tying knots with spectra doesn't always hold true. A bimini with mono usually gets 20 turns. You used to hear recomendations of tying a bimini with spectra by using 30-40 turns. Now since tests have been done we find that a spectra bimini is very weak with that many turns. As it turns out the superior specta bimini uses only 12 turns. Go figure.

I have had the cutting as well on occasion, mostly with the lighter PP to light mono, the 30lb or less is just too damn small to not act like a knife. That's what is so nice about the Uni-Uni, just opposing knots, no cut-offs to date after 4-5 seasons.

Thanks CAPTJohnny, I'll rig some up tonight and see how they do this weekend...hopefully they get put to the test. Last year was a little frustrating, especially the day of three break-offs (two at once...got the rods out of the holders, engaged the reel...and the fish just kept digging; that is until the rods bounced back...) Sucks when you know you got the hooks in them...one heads one way, the other the opposite way...everyone is going nuts...then...SNAP! A real buzz killer. But, hey... trying something new, there's bound to be a curve thrown in there.

I like a uni to uni has always worked but a trick I do for light test lines is a drop of super glue on the knot after tied up helps prevent the braided from sliping or cutting my line!!!PEACE

Ok, maybe I'm confused...why are you putting 30 pound braid over 20 pound backing. Is this going on a spinning reel? That I can understand.

Galazio I hear what you are saying, I had quite a few "mystery" break-offs as far as the Power Pro is concerned. Personally I don't think it is quite as tough and abrasion resistant as people like to give credit. I am going to the Stren Superbraid for inshore this year on the rec. of a few guys in the area. The other thing to remember is that if two fish cross each other out there with those lines, the braid parts immediately. Tough with guests....But the benefits speak volumes so I am sticking with it, hope the Stren is better.

Uni to Uni. Will not fail if done properly. Works well with lines of similar diameter. When attatching the braid to much keavier leader material I use a different connection.
