well after the long month of Decemberbiteless we got our bites today one in the morning that we pulled the hook on and one on the afternoon that wanted a free ride in to town.
and now our season is offically begining. As you all know by now the season has been real bad with 2 fish per day for the most part except for the begining of the seson when they bit for a day or two. and not a big bite at that. yesterday was the biggest bite so far for the season and pray its gonna hold for the remainder of the season. we faught the fish for about an hour and it just didnt want to come to the boat in a friendly manner, taking weird port to starboard runs at the back of the boat made for a hard harpoon shot just because he never went into a true death circle. But on his last run to starboard I hit him with the poon and that was that. When the fish was boat side, sean from the charter boat Jenny Lee from briell said is he gonna make the size..I looked at him in disbelief and said huh?? thats a pig he looks close to 100 inches I was off by 3 inches, the fish measured out at 96 on my tape and 97 on jasons tape and weghed in at 418 pounds dressed at homers seafood where we sold the fish.
needless to say sean was happy to know it made the mark.
So thats it in a nutshell we will pound it out for the rest of the season and hope for a few more fish.
Here are a few pics of the fish.
