Two Days ago we decked a much needed 80 inch Bluefin Tuna at first light. After changing a few things around we feel the spread is tight and hope to deck a few more in the last 8 days of the season. the Day before we had one break off at the bite. The reel was frozen and locked up never allowing the fish to take drag so the leader broke. that was a heart breaker but lesson learned on those cold winter mornings when its way below freeziing to warm up your drags. a week or so earlier we had a nice fish to the boat but pulled the hook 15 feet from the boat and of course that was a heartbreaker as well, we would of had the fish if it wasnt hooked in the eye. when he came to the surface the fish made a roll and the hook fell out of his eye socket. I was surprised to even get the fish that close once we saw where he was hooked. So thats it in a nutshell, hope to report a few more on the deck in the next week.
