It is amazing how some feel this an exclusive club. The attitude has behooved me since day one and this type of pompous shit comes up at the beginning of every season. I can understand the disdain for disrespectful fishermen and the numbnuts out there keeping people from making a living but there are quite a few people out there just trying their hardest to tangle with one of these majestic creatures and just learn. I would venture a guess that all these guys acting all high and mighty were in that same postion one day and would not have the experience they do if someone didnt help. Not talking about you specifically draggin but your comments are pretty indicative of the attitude in general.

I can't help but laugh at this thread. I know full well who is being referred to on the waterfront that hates CC/OB's. Probally one of the best Captains on the waterfront and catches fish, do like everyone else- LET it go in one ear and out the other. I haven't seen where anyone has a title or lease for nary a acre of water out there. Cut offs are gonna happen, especially when you have 100 boats working the same 1/2 mile area and a BFT stretched out 500yds.

Jim has the cold temps upstate got you frustated? You want to see conjested, head over to Town Creek when the Spots are running. You don't have to worry about drowning, fall out of one boat and into another!! I hope you weren't trying to make any new friends with this thread This is just like going on a charter and telling the Capt. how to run his boat and then telling the mate how to run the cockpit, little arrogant this sounds to me.

Last year was my first time trying for BFT, yep we fished Commercially, out of a old 23ft. CC, and nope we weren't experts but a 300lb. cored out fish went to MHC our first trip. We were coached by one of the best mates on the waterfront- " THE BLOCK" thanks Rick!!!! and with a couple borrowed 80W's from Capt Shane. Proud, yes we were, we tangled with a giant and won and we figured out how to get it over the side all own our own. We didn't run over any body in the process.

As for the up the beach guys, well we find them entertaining with their accent and crazy fishing stories. We didn't have any problems with them. Yes some of them are darn good at tuna killin and so are we, so I say we're on a level playing field.

This year we are better prepared, tackle squared away, Poon ready, we even came up with a life raft and next week we will be out there looking to tangle with the big boys again and we'll enjoy every minute of it. We'll be the ones in the red/white CC "Electric Bill" with ear to ear grins on our faces!!!!

I don't do it for a living and I know that most of the boats out there do. Doesn't give them any more right to fish for them than it does me but I know my living doesn't come from fishing and I always stay clear of those that do. A little respect goes a long ways.

Instead, go recreational fishing, have a good time and don't worry about them. Like buffalo's they will be a memory soon enough anyway.

............I know this may not be a popular stance, but other than greed, what reason is there to do it? I'm not running for President next go around, so what the hell. I'm just going to lay it out there Hubris style.

    Thoughts?

Now what would you say If a kid came up to you and said "I want to start hunting but im unsure about things, Can you tell me what I need??"

Would you tell the kid to stay the hell home cause he doesnt know anything and he just wants to learn about the sport??
