Bluefin Tuna Fishing in Nova Scotia

Failte gu Taigh na Mara - That's Gaelic for "welcome to the house by the sea". I need your opinions and assistance as Sports Fishers! Late last year I bought a house on the ocean in Upper Wedgeport, just south of Yarmouth Nova Scotia, with a view to turning it into a Green Bed and Breakfast - visions of free-range chickens and organic herbs and vegetables. Those visions are still alive, and the summer will be spent renovating to put in more en suite bathrooms, etc.,. I got a surprise however, when very shortly (days) after I closed on the house, to get inquiries from a local charter boat Captain asking when I would be open to accomodate clients who who would need a land base when they were in the area to fish for tuna. It was truly a "Duh" moment. I had no idea that I was located 5 minutes away from the wharves of the once and future tuna fishing capital of the world. Captain Jaquard, who contacted me, needed accomodation for clients coming in from Mexico and other places. He warned that the tuna fishers leave about 3:00am (it takes hours to get to the grounds) and wanted to know if it would be a problem to get my guests up, and take them to the wharves in time to leave. It's not a problem. But my question to all of you is this: If you were coming to Wedgeport to sports fish, what would you be looking for in the way of land-based accommodation? I haven't started renovating yet, so I will listen very carefully to your advice. Also, if you are going to be roused from your beds in the middle of the night, would you prefer a full breakfast, or have some home made muffins/pastries with coffee or tea, and a packed full breakfast to take onto the boat with you to eat later? In the event of "weather" as the good Captain put it, what would you like to have at your disposal as you wait for it to clear? If you are bringing companions that do not share your passion for sport, what might they want to do? Thanks in advance for your input!

Hope to hear from you soon - so far I've learned that Sports Fishing takes patience, endurance, and strength. It is absolutely not for the faint of heart. And so the education begins ...
