Bluefin Kill Wachapreague VA - 7/18-19/09

Greetings from Wachawhatever, VA - had two good days of bluefinning on Sams Hill, Lumpy Bottom - fished with Jim McCarthy and Charlie Arnold. Saturday first pull gaffer dolphin, second pull 47 inch bluefin, third pull was a 141 lb fattie - measured 60 inch. Sunday was a half day trip inside of Sams Hill - pulled another 47. Pretty water down here, lots of bait, and a whitie in the spread.

I here that occasionally and have never found it to be so. IMO fresh bluefin is every bit as good as yellowfin if not better.

but they eat em as sushi. I think it may be that fact that they feed on all those oily menhaden down here in NC

    Not sure anymore

    BFT

Bleed them, Gut them, and stuff the cavity with ice immediately. The 50" and less range are great. When they get bigger the meat becomes more fatty and IMO is not as good. Still is great but you have to cut away lots of the fatty areas.
