    Baja Dreamer,

Excuse the ignorance on my part, but do the company's you mentioned make the aluminum components for the TLD 50's? I have some International 50's but really like the smoothness of the TLD's. By the way when the guy's are fishing stand up style, they don't have a harness that clips to the reel. I generally just use the fiberglass type belts (mainly because the fellas that fish with me vary alot in size, this way I can just reach behind them and snap one on) and they fight their fish hands on the rod only. I love my VSX30, a little bit more reel than the TLD but you aint gonna rip her apart like that. i dont like to skimp out on gear, the only plastic on my line is the lure..Mabeye shimano will take it back?? if not, then you just paid double for that reel if you buy another one...

like Lee said, I too have seen this happen over and over.

cant fish high drags with the TLD 2-Speeds.

Seen this with the 30s and 50s.

Hate it happened to you though, good job landing the fish with the busted reel.

If you are going to use the TLDs for big tuna I would put on the GetStraped bracket. The reason the frames pop is because of the torque and twisting from the harness. The GetStrapped bracket goes under the reel and eliminates the torque on the lugs and frame. You can see one of the brackets on one of my TLDs. Since we put these on our reels we haven't had any problems.....Mark

Wasn't this more of a problem with the older TLDs that got fixed with the "A" versions? Curious as I have a few of the "newer" models. How much drag were you using?
