I had a pair of the lighter style, they started to fray and fall apart after 4 trips. Went to lowes and got a pair of $11.00 black and tan Boss gloves and love them. Just drop them in the soap and bleach water on the way in and they are clean when I get back. FOr the big guys I just use welders gloves.

Here is a ten dollar solution you can try.....
Go to your local dollar store. They sell LEATHER heavy duty gardening gloves, yes real leather and yeah real soft. For 5$ you can buy two pair. For another 5 dollars if you want to you make yourself an upgrade and pimp your hand out buy the old standard bright orange gloves with the rubber on the fingers and palms, cut all the fingers off and throw overtop of the dollar store gloves. Save the other $50 for a something nice or you can go and search out your local metal or welding shop and buy a pair of some guys used welding gloves, clean off any metal chips and you are set |

Been using the Blue Fever Wire Max for three seasons. They do fray easy when the velcro anchor touches any of the wrist fabric. I soak em at the end of the trip in a bucket with Orpine soap and that seems to get it done.
Also have a pair of welders gloves that leader just fine.... Ever since I went to Maui and saw what a lonely skipjack did to a mates hand we never leader without gloves again. The skippy came in green as heck and the mate took a lazy wrap with a bare hand and skippy bolted ...the leader slipped through his hand and took him to the bone on three fingers.... No matter how small the fish we give the R-E-S-P-E-C-T !!! |

I hear ya man, I had a small mahi run on me and snatch a snap swivel through my hand. Cut me to the bone as well. I always wear gloves now.
