Pretty cool. I wonder how long it will last if they keep laying them out on the rocks two at a time?
Probably a little longer then the bluefin...
Besides the...ethical choices...that is some pretty sick stuff. I guess my surf fishing friends are right- "Boat fish don't Count"
Then again I bet that if you hook a grander you'd better be wearing water skis cause you're going for a ride![]()
Always swimming against the tide
I saw a video of this before from the guys at Inside Sportfishing. I love how they use kiddie pools for bait tanks.![]()
Looks like a cool vid. I saw a vid from some Aussies who posted it on another forum. Most fish are lost cause they either hit the underwater shelf over there or they just plain outmuscle the fisherman. What got me is that they use small line complaining of line capacity. If they use bigger line like say....80lb or 100lb they would bring up more. Now some of you guys gotta introduce them to braid if they say that is a problem.![]()
Jeez, It would be just as much fun to catch and release, seems like they kill alot of fish
just got back from costa rica. for what its worth, one of our captains told us that black marlin is very very good table fare. i have no way of knowing for sure but if someone wants to harvest one, and its legal, and you give them the benefit of the doubt that they arent going to waste it, then thats fine with me.
but agreed, i too would more than likely go out of my way to release.
and, that looks friggin fun btw!
Rather than spooling up with 80# braid I would bet spooling them 50lrsa's up with about a mile of 50# braid would be the way to go. I saw an atricle about this place in saltwater sportsman several years back and they were catching blacks then too, so maybe it isnt wasting away quickly. Its a shame to kill them tiny marlin though.
