someone must be really good at guestimating, I'd say more like 1147
No doubt, great video of an amazing animal.
Cool video no doubt.
BUT, I would love to hear from Roddy or Kenton Geer or one of the other fellows on here that has put the steel in a Grander as to the size estimate on that fish. I know it is tough to tell from camera angle and what not, but I think this may be a prime case of "if you don't weigh it, don't say it...."
I always thought the camera added 10 pounds![]()
Forget the weight, I think its more than 10 lbs frank, that is some of the most "foolish" behavior I have seen. I know it seems cool, everyone thinks their a star, its on u-tube, and Im a dick but.......I think thats a pretty good example of what NOT to do.
Unless you want to be air lifted back to land with a giant wound to show for it, or better yet be the most "experienced" mate in the world and get pulled over never to be seen again. Boy, if only deepy was here to set me straight, on those standing wave patterns and all the smarts it takes to handle a pretty live fish like that right at the boat. More man than I am I guess.Never, would I act like that with such a green fish jumping at the transom.
Its amazing how many people film their stupidity and think it makes them ........smart.
If I were the wireman, I would be pissed. No doubt these guys have experience, but the angler has to wind on the slack when the wiremen has a grip. Look at this again and watch how much slack is in the line between the wireman and the tip of the rod. Rule is, wind up all slack, or see your mate get tangled and pulled over board. I look forward to someday catching a fish that size.
Great job on a beautiful Marlin !...Bob
