Need help with bird teasers to go in front of a rigged squid spreader bar.
Hard bird or soft bird, and what size?
If running multiple bars, would you put birds on all of them?

I use the little birds rigged on the bar. I buy the materials & rig the bars how I want them.
www.squidnation.com has the birds that I prefer. I rig one on each end, but not in the middle.

I run squidnation's birds all of last summer hard, was totally satisfied with his product!!!PEACE
HI:
TRY my TUNA TEASER BIRDS. They have a TUNA TAIL on the end that make for more white water and keeps the bar up. Add it to the front of the bar via the snapswivel it come with and your ready to go.

I picked up a couple of the new offshore innovations bird bars, where the bar actually runs through the bird. Can't wait to try them out this summer. This winter really sucks!
I USE ONE OF THOSE PINK BON-E BIRDS IN FRONT ON IT AND I CONNECT RIGHT TO THE BAR MAKE SURE YOU PULL IN ON AN 80!!!! CUS IT HAS SOME PULL!
Hard bird with the bar running through the bird works best. The bird will not flutter but its wings act as a reverse planer to keep the bar on top, this reduces "down time" and keeps the bar on the surface where it belongs. The hard bird also acts to stabalize the hub and reduces "crab walking". That is the whole science behind a true "splash bar". If you load up your bar with birds on your drop lines it greatly increases the water drag on your bar, so have your 80's ready.
Here are the birds that we sell that have been mentioned above. they are 5 inches in total length and have a slightly cupped armpit that really puts off a splash. We rig them in chains and in bars. We do not put the bar through them because we have found that a single bird in front and a few on the outside arms will lift the bar nicely. A bar with the bird through it seems to run a bit Awkard form my liking but they are definetly effective. I have seen some birds break off the bar and have heard the same but again the bird splash bar is effective. We also rig them in chains and in front of some lures. The are versatile birds because the line runs through the bird. Just remember to place a bead in front of the crimp so the crimp does not wear a whole throught through the bird.
