    Billfish Fantasy

I experienced a decent year of billfishing between the mid-Atlantic and Los Suenos, Costa Rica. Blues, whites, sails and stripes were pretty cooperative. The years highlight came while fishing with Captain Josh Ruskey out of Ocean City, Maryland when one day we released 17 whites. I had the opportunity to fish with several of you on the board and look forward to the upcoming season. Here is this past year's billfishing in review, entitled...Billfish Fantasy, enjoy!

Cant catch numbers taking an hour for whitey to lose enegy and tire out. Plus, if they were using circle hooks, they don't tire out as fast as J hooks.

As previously stated, Josh is currently in Los Suenos. I’ve worked with a lot of good captains over the years, but Josh leads the pack (no offense for those of you reading!) He grew up with my two sons who all loved to fish offshore. However, Josh took he passion and love of offshore to a different level and decided to make fishing his livelihood like many of us. He enthusiasm is clearly evident, always running the extra mile looking for the break. For being young, he has put big numbers up on tournament boards, including the Big Rock, MA500 to mention a couple. He has an uncanny sixth sense, which allow him to make the right call from the bridge. I’ve never fished with anyone who has a better set of eyes for observing billfish. He still works the pit on occasions when he is not running the Penguin or freelancing as a Captain. This keeps him sharp and on top of the game. If any of you have the opportunity to jump on with him don’t pass it by. I’m fortunate to fish with Josh and he certainly has taught this old dog a few new tricks.

A little more credit is due.

I think it should be mentioned that that great day you had in Ocean City was on Jeff Lessen's (sp?) Monterey the "Legasea" with Dominic in the cockpit. Dominic is guy in the picture that was almost "skewered" by the flying Marlin.
    Pretty work !!
