Sorry it took so long for me to respond to this thread. I've been hunting for a week and just got back.

Thank you Offshore, Mike, Mako and Hutch. What we need are more informed people like you guys to keep tabs on the deceitful tactics being used by the environmentalists to reduce domestic recreational and commercial fishing. We must tell every fishermen we know before the enviros win the fight.

Capt. Rich, It's not about PEWs ads generating revenue, its about rebuilding their image and gaining our support so they can stick it to us at a later date. Every move these groups make are well-planned and methodical. They don't need money--they have plenty. They need to change their image and look like the good guys. It's the first step in some plan they have for us. And you can bet it will impact our right to fish. Please read my editorial at this link which ran in the Nov/Dec 2010 issue of the Journal. It will fill you in on what I and many believe is transpiring. I can't believe some in the industry are helping and supporting their cause.

This is Ol' Len. I read your post with interest. I believe you must be clairvoyant Sonny. You don't get the Journal any longer, so you haven't read any of the 10 editorials I have written about PEW, and you know that I would take ad money from these environmental business groups. Groups that are hell bent on shutting down or limiting access to our recreational fishery. You know this because I run a "business" which in your judgement should include selling your soul to the devil, and selling out your friends and readers for a few bucks. That tells me lots about your charactor and business ethics.

you run a magazine-you generate revenue by selling advertisment-yes ? without those ads,what happens ?

seems to me,you want to make yourself out to be the pope,based upon the fact you won't run ads for PEW...thats great,common sense would tell us,funding groups like PEW is bad for everyone-yes ? no fishing,no magaznes,no sattelite temp services-and me,my biz would suffer too-yes ? you're not shooting yourself in the foot...
get the point here ? doing the right thing-right thing by not supporting these liberal anti everything groups-that's just common sense...

Love the magazine. By the way, did anyone from PEW contact BGFJ looking to run an ad? I am curious where else they are advertising (I only get Marlin and BGFJ). Don't mind Jawz, he must have forgotten his comment...

gotta disagree here...it's a biz,i highly doubt ol' len is gonna turn advertising dollars away in this economy...i dropped my subscription to his mag years ago...

Thank you Eric. No no one contacted us from the enviro groups. I guess they have been reading my editorials. I do believe this will be the greatest fight the recreational fishermen has ever had. With PEW supplying the money, and EDF on the outside and Lubchenco on the inside. They have been slowly stacking the deck against us. We must dump Jane Lubchenco and start calling her "EDF Jane."
From what I am told Florida Sportsman and Sportfishing are also running PEW ads.
