Need to get the winds to come in from the east, northeast and it will turn on again. Its been pretty much the pattern all year on the good catches of tuna. As of the other day stream is ripping with few tuna bites but great sail fishing inside with bailers and hoos around. Good Luck
I fished down there monday on a green stick boat tuna fishing. We were in the right area, but no tuna bites. Did see 20+ sails, but its hard catching them with 15 rods 50-130# class rods in the water, horse ballyhoos on hawaiian eyes, 200# leaders, etc. Incredible sail bite-@ 630 and 100-200 fathoms, but its really hard to catch them on tuna fishing gear. Fun to watch anyways. We did end up getting one and jumped off a whole bunch. We could have legitamately caught a dozen or 15 on dink gear, but we were tuna fishing. We did get a couple wahoos, bonita, and dolphin. Looked right for tunas though. Bonitas busting under birds everywhere, grass, flyers, blended water, etc... Pretty conditions, but we werent even marking the tunas- on the other hand, we marked every single sailfish bite that we had... consistently for half the day we would see two squiggles on the machine and there they would be two sails in the spread, three squiggles- theres three sails... etc.
The tuna have been around only when it is really rough with a heavy east or northeast wind.
Bring in the footballs!!!
Very nice to hear about some good catches, just send us a few down to Swansboro hole!

East wind down there today and sounds like most boats saw at least a couple tunas... Its gonna be east again tomorrow and watch the reports... there will be tunas.
