Big Wahoo 8-8-08

Captain Eddie Skakle of the "Sea Bear" cathches a big wahoo off Hatteras. Ninety four pounds.

An impressive fish.

Ten years ago or so a 150 lb wahoo was caught off Ocracoke.

The usual fish is 15 to 50 lbs. but occasionally a trophy shows up.

OOOF, CLIFF...THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL 'HOO! CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND THE CREW. IT'S ONE THING TO HOOK ONE OF THOSE BRUTES IN THE FIRST PLACE, BUT LANDING ONE IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT KETTLE OF WAHOO...THE TACKLE AND THE DRIVER BETTER BE RIGHT, OR LINES AND HEARTS GET BROKEN. YOU GUY OBVIOUSLY HAVE YOUR STUFF TOGETHER. THAT'S GREAT TO SEE.

I LOVE FISHING FOR WAHOO AND SPECIALIZED IN IT DOWN IN CABO, WHERE THERE ARE ALSO BIG NUMBERS OF THEM, INCLUDING SOME REAL HORSES THAT FEW PEOPLE CATCH. I HONESTLY THINK THAT WAS MORE BECAUSE PEOPLE DIDN'T FISH BIG ENOUGH LURES TO INTEREST THEM.

BELOW WAS OUR BEST MEDICINE FOR THE MONSTER CLASS. THE PROBLEM WAS BYCATCH - AS IN BLUE AND BLACK MARLIN AND BIG, OLD TOONERS. WE PUT UP WITH THEM, THOUGH - OH BOY, DID WE! ALSO SHOWN IS A REGULAR WAHOOBAR. ADD "REGULATION" WAHOO, DOLPHIN, TUNA (LARGE AND SMALL) AND STRIPED MARLIN TO THE HIT LIST. THE JUMBO IS THE WAY TO GO IF ONE WANTS TO CONCENTRATE ON THE BIG CRITTERS.

ONCE AGAIN, GREAT JOB ON THAT BIG AZZED FANGBANGER!
