Hello, my name is Justin I’m a Veterinary student living in the Caribbean (St. Kitts). At a local fisherman “hangout” where they clean the fish, sell etc… There are some Big Tarpon hanging around 5+ ft. What is the best way to catch these, types of (lures, baits, hooks) Right now been using 40lb powerpro (baitrunner 4500) with 6ft of 80lb fluro and a 5/0 circle (jumped two both spit it one after a minute or so and multiple jumps). I just want something a tarpon could not resist it seem like they are there around noon everyday Feeeding. Any tips would be appreciated.

Live pinfish or something with the dorsal snipped should last about two seconds in front of one already on the feed. If they swam anywhere near me I would be harassin the hell out of em. Post up some pics.

Will do me and my friend got a nice hit on a grunt but it spit it. Do you think it should be free lined or floated? Had a lot of luck on the golf course ponds here caught some 3ft or so tarpon, but my favorite pulled out some 25-30lb snook(in a Pond)!
Use whatever they are feeding on for bait and use a bigger circle hook! 8-10/0 with strong but thin wire guage. This will improve your hook-up ratio as long as you hook your bait in a way that it will tear off rather easily.
that sounds like fun..i saw tarpon about that size hanging out in a marina in Key West. it was torture not having a rod to try to hook up on one! good luck on 'em
Life gives me a new perspective and outlook daily.

Use and 8/0 owner light wire circle...
and six feet of 80lf fluoro. Use whatever they are eating. Just take a mahi belly and just hook it once so the hook is exposed. Dont try to hide it, just hook on a corner. just freeline it out. If there is current freeline it out for a long time then reel in and start over. If there is no current just scatter some pieces of fish around ant then plop your chunk right in the middle. Do it right where they are cleaning fish.
I would suggest braided line on the reel or the pilings will give you fits
