We are travelling to remote area in indonesia for GT Fishing, this area we were fishing are untouched and unknown gt fishing spots in indonesia. Our fishing trip started with a 2 hrs fly from Bali then we are cruising for couple hours to the island where we will fishing for the giant GT/Ulua on popper. Fully popping ulua fishing, we have no time that time for jigging and trolling taht we were busy enough with the strike.



Day 01.
We left bali around noon, and arrive in Kupang 1:50 hours later. there we have been welcomed by anglers friends in Kupang-Timor, we had a great dinner together while we share our experience and technic fishing.
was told story about some fisherman that catches 30+ gts around 10-20 kilos and never released them, a bad bad attitude of them. and not forgetting to ask them the awareness of releasing GT after they catch it. its an conservation that will preserve the GT and the game we enjoy.

Late night we went back to hotel and early morning we already in the flight to our destination, around 45 minutes flights on propelered air plane.

Day02
arriving at destination, first thing i did is to check the availability of fuel for our guest the next 2 days, check this and that, we are then preparing for fishing. fuel has 2400 litres and oil and elses are prepared.
we left out very late, around 12o noon and then we have only close range from harbour.
we were encountered with tuna boiling, we throw our small jigs, popper, and everything we thrown had strikes. skipjack and one meters yellow fin are the first to up. then barracuda, then many more.
This boiled water of tunas were last over 2 hours !!



heading to destination for jigging dogtooth, next to us, a fisherman almost drawn into the water of the fish power, we saw him fighting with the fish for almost 30 minutes, but bad luck to him, the line broken at the end of the fight.

Day03
we went out far, after double check again all for my fishing guest we went out to the next island, a bit late and we missed the tide, but its OK. one cast two cast, got a strike, missed. some several cast and some fishes released.
on the way back we met again boiled water of tuna, again, anything we throw were producing strikes, everyone in boat were yelling strikes strikes ….
some tuna were angled on board for tonight dinner.

DAY 04.
We were back to Kupang on early flights, the guest arrive today. they were pick up and directly out for fishing.

Today they only catches some small gts and then release back safely to water.

We already at kupang and planning our next destination, whether beatrice rocks or sumbawa. we decided to go sumbawa. after 2 hrs fllight we are arrive at the airport, a car ready to pick us up and we are on a 3.5 hrs drive to the fishing spots. arrival at the spot around 10pm and hit the sack in hotel.

DAY05
Morning we head to the harbor, rain still hard, we decided to enjoy coffe and some nice nice chat with our best friend fishing in sumbawa. we head out late at 2pm hahahahhaha ….
from the port, we out only around 2 nmiles and we fish there.
first strike on yozuri popper was a small 15 kilos GT as the picture above, then the rest is only around 10 kilos. as usual released them safely back into the ocean.

Night, we have a very nice dinner, actually the best one during our trip. descent food great restaurant. great day !!

while we are at sumbawa, our group 01 in timor are getting their 40+ kilos gt this morning, and some 5 small 20 kilos GT, i got the news from my captain and guide there.
they are planning to stay over at the next island for easya cces to the remote island where they will be fishing the next day.

DAY 06.
This morning the rain dont stop. aint good , but late today like 11 morning we are on the boat to the same spots yesterday. on my 3rd cast i angled a small 10 kilos GT and quickly released them back. around 3 hours later, some gt we angled in the same area for the last 2 days.

we found a nice resort at sumbawa, we were there for dinner and some tia maria, whiskey and screw. great ight with all the friends there.

The guest of mine in Timor are fantastic fishing result.
getting 20+ gts a day, some of them 30+ kilos, and the rest mostly weighted 20-30 kilos. Great day.

DAY 07.
we out to the sea early, 4 boats, like 7 am, still at the same area, 3 miles from port, again another some gts angled, hahahahahha… this place must be their village of GT.
a bit bored of strike we out for next island, were there for couple hours, no strikes, we decided to stop at the beach nearby with sandy white sand. relaxing and lunch. then we cruise back to the first spots.
here we got the strike that pulled of my 80lbs split ring on popper,
i felt the strike, twice, i thought missed. i reel in the PE8 line, then i saw the poper only has one hooks attached with its split ring beded, and hook straighten, the other hook gone, with its split rings, i thing those giant GT smack both treble hooks and so strong it is that pulled off the rear split ring and straighten the belly hooks of the popper.
if only its bites and hooked, it will be a great fight !!



at the same morning spots, we released around 3 or 5 i forgot, a medium size GTs.
at the port, friends bring death GT a 32 kilos one, its gill were broken so he cant release it, he said he got another 25+ kilos gt 2 gts, and a 30+kilos 2 fish.
the oter group has a big fish, we called it doorsize gts, but badly pe line were broken, they all see it while closing to the boat, on the last run the doorsize gt runs so hard and breaking the line.

the fourth boat got only 3 gts, a smal to medium size. all released back.

My guest who ae fishing in Timor, got even more fantastic result, 10+ gt angled each anglers, around 20+ kilos each.

So then we are back to the town and had a great dinner with all, everyone got a cigar we bring along from bali to celebrate and open bottle of liquer and spirits, morning we have to fly back to bali.

Morning after 3 hrs land drive, we are at the airport and back to bali .

today the 1rst group at timor were replaced by 2nd group.

during 10 days in timor bith group produce.
each anglers, released around 10 gts a day each, and the biggest 43 kilos gt, group 2nd got some 2-3 40+ kilos gt, and some 20 fish of 25-35 kilos gt during the trip. som sea bass, barracuda 34 kilos (group 1) on popping, skipjack.
this trip cause one stella 18000SR broken, and shimano caranx kaibutsu PE12 snapped off. some 10+ popper gone, and numerous line breaks.
