That pic of the mako, was that the one from Texas last year- I remember seing a similar pic of one on Tidal fish a few years ago. Caught from the beach or something- I am pretty sure it was in texas. Thats pretty cool.

Deep you are right about the dog pile on the poster stuff. We should be happy the dude caught some fish, and some nice fish at that. Hopefully tomorow evening I am positng some white marlin numbers up for everyone to read about.

I think it was Texas, but am not sure, it was a random picsent to me and I will def ask him. I know the mako in the laguna was authentic.

There was a mako hooked and lost here in OC by a very reputable guy, at great gull shoal- which is only a handful of mile out. He estimated it at 500 or better. Those big ones come in close at times- especially if there is food around.

I think the idea of flying purple people eater swimming just past the shore break is cool as hell- especially cause I don't surf!!

Cruisin on assawomen bay one day guy came on the radio and asked if anyone wanted a mako. He was 1 mile off the beach and had a mako swimming around his boat. Bluefin at the "DB" bouy out of indian river, So I hear. My opinion,
they go where the food is. may not be where they want to be, but hell, I go to Phila for dinner sometimes, then I go back where I want to be.

I'll take him on his word, and thanks for the information. As far as posts go, it was far more informative than most.

Quick note on the shallow wahter swords. Back in the mid 90's there was a 60lb pup caught in the marina in 20' of water in Marina Del Rey, CA. What do you make of that? And that's a no shitter!
Saw it with my own eyes. There was actually video of it swimming around the basin on the news and some tree huggers went and caught it, I don't remember how, and then released it outside the breakwater. Out there you can be in 500+ft in less than a mile so i guess it's possible. Just thought I'd add a couple cents. Still like to see the pics of the eyeballs.

Back in '89 we rode out Hurricane Kiko on the beach at the East Cape of Baja (actually a trailer park on the beach). The eye hit within 5 miles of us with 110 mph wind and torrential rain. We stuck around for 3 days with no power as the roads were washed out. We put the boat back in and fished dorado under floating trees and dead cows. While anchoring the boat in the evening, I followed a confused striped marlin for about 1/2 mile and it was swimming in 80' of water just off the beach and the very thick debris line. Stranger things happen.

BUT I DO WANT TO SEE PICTURES

At this point, is it fair to say that this thread or issue is dead? No pics, no video=no proof. Time to move on
