Anything is possible. Dave (sweetcaroline) and me were the ones that got the sword fish we also went 1/2 on whites in the same area. Remember there are no gates in the ocean

Not being a hater at all dude, and I appreciate your report! It's just that this already happened this year around our local marina. The boat weighed in a fish that they said was a big eye and it was most certainly a bluefin. Did the pec reach the second dorsal???

Any thing is possible at the trunk, its a special place for me...we caught our first bluefin there on our first try at chunking...ill never forget it, it also represents the edge of our range from sea isle...the amount of life around it sometimes is so diverse, anything is possible and nothing would surprise me...especially this year. Just because it is unlikely or unheard of does not mean its impossible....I hope they were eyeballs for ya fellas, that would definitly be cool....and if they werent, well we didnt know our bluefins were infact bluefins untill the guy at the dock told us to get them the hell out of here you cant keep 2 of them, alas this was 18 years ago and we didnt know any better back then...times were different back then, no matter what good catch fellas.

I have caught Blue Marlin at the trunk, seen whites at the Avalon Shoal and have seen and caught "tropical" species while fishing in NJ. Anything is possible.

White Marlin are totally different fish than bigeyes. White Marlin routinely populate the inshore grounds. They swim high in the water column and I have seen them as far as 3 miles off the beach. Big Eye however swim much lower in the water column - so low in fact that they spend most of their day below 50 fathoms - that means they would hit the bottom long before they ever got to the trunk.

Inshore?...White Marlin - Yes, Big Eye - No

take it easy there buddy.. 2006 member with only 46 posts!?! dont think it is right nor do you have the credibility to say some of the things you have been saying... we do not jump on anyone here as we are a family..

it happens and sometimes you can not believe it but no one is full of it.. they tell what they tell and what they see and if you choose to not believe it then so be it..

nieve!?!? i dont think many of us on here are... it has nothing to do with the water column they swim in.. if thats the case how come you have a better chance of catching whites in 500 fathoms then you do in the flats!??!

just my point of view..

He may have only posted 42 times but the one he just made was more informative then all of your post combined. Since when do you need a certain number of post to have an opinion?
