This is what I was emailed last night-

The story on this fish is that it was caught off of Jacksonville by a Canaveral based tug traveling to South Carolina last week and trolling a line @ 9 kts.. These guys estimated it to be in the 100# range and didn't have the ice/capacity to keep it cold till they got to S.C., so they had to cut it up!!!! Little did they know that it was potentially the WORLD RECORD!!! It's nice to know that there's fish this size roaming our waters :- )

Have two more pictures of the fish but trying to post them...

I'd love to know how common these monster mahis are out there, way offshore. How old would a fish like that be, how much longer would it have to live, would something that big still feed on flyers or would it have graduated to gobbling frigate mackerels/baby skipjacks and schoolie dorados... Just imagine setting the gaff into a fish like that!

I'd rather catch a fish like that than a blue marlin.

WOW! The girth is noticably huge on this fish. Not sure the length but with a head that size and thickness to add, my guess would be close around a hundred. What a fish. Im sure he eats about anything he wants to.
