(big jay) we used a planer bally set up with a squidnation big heavy PINK.The set up had 400 mono with a 9/0 mustad hook.we ran 1 on the planer and 2 surface. This set up for me caught fish at the princess with a 32 planer and inshore off seagirt 5 miles off the beach in november with a 15 planer.Very simple set up but the speed was the factor.5 to 5.5 knots was the sweetspot.

We can only hope they stick around our neck of the woods this year.
They weren't here long, but what I can tell you, is we crushed them on the 30 line south of the claw! we had a few solid weeks of fishing for them by ourselves well outside of the fleets

big jay, The WWTFB horse Ballyhoo coupled to a pink/black or blue/white islander was my bread and butter last year, and usually is pretty darn trustworthy on any canyon troll. I usually like to run my farthest line off the center rigger into the chair. I run my islander setups as follows: 25' 150 lb hi-catch leader, crimped to my mainline via wind on swivel, and crimped to my s.s. bft hook. I usually fished an 80w in this position and would dump about 1/3 or more of the spool depending on conditions. We troll 6.5- 7 Hope this season they are hungrier around you guys

By the way...Baitmasters Selects were the perfect size this year for those islander setups, and all the BFT bites came on select ballyhoo. When we got into those dink 26.5'' yft early this season you could catch them on a bare hook if you ran over them.
