    BFT out of Rudee?

I had heard that the BFT were within striking distance of Rudee Inlet before the storms came through. Anyone heard same/planning on trying them if the forcasted weather window holds?

Last I heard they were 70 plus miles out, the current sst shot will point you to them. Caught them in 62 degree water down on the 550, but reports were all the way up to the 850. Oi was a lot closer the rudee to the fish.

We ran down there a couple weeks ago and fished from the 850 to the 800 line mainly. 100-400f is where we found our bites. The eddy we fished looks almost exactly like the one that is sitting down there right now. It was a pretty long run but in a big boat doing 23-24 knots, not too bad. Plus we had a lot of room as most boats were down on the 550 or so and then came up our way at the end of the day (and they were still 5 miles below us catching BFT. We had 8 come tight and caught 4...all in the 125 pound class

We are scheduled to make the run again on Saturday out of Rudee. If you want to try and run together, let me know. I'll chat with my buddy about hooking up Sat am inside the inlet. We usually shove off around 3:30 - 4am...
    Tight lines,

Persistence, we will be launching at owl creek ramp late Friday night and spending the night at Fisherman's Wharf. We could meet you in the inlet Saturday AM. We were planning on a 3:30 -4:00 departure as well. Sending you a pm.

Some friends of mine hit them on the 950 last weekend on the way down to Hatteras from Rudee. Not saying they are still there, but they definitely were last Saturday. Good luck

We got em last Monday at the 850 line...120 - 140 class fish...water was 66 degrees in 300 fathoms....find the two tones and find the BFT.....

there is a little filament of 64 degree water sitting at the 000's that appears to be the same water that has been holding them. Keep an eye on reports next couple days as boats get out....

I'm heading out of OI on Saturday...unless I hear something diffferent....bob

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping that warm spot doesn't play out before the weekend.

Best of luck to those going for BFT in the near future. It's good to hear they might be up this way soon. Hopefully there will be some good reports with pics.
