    Best Tropical Destination Mid-December

A few buddies and I are planning to take a trip in December. We want to go to a place that won't break the bank, will be fun (women nightlife wise) and of course lots of fish. We are looking to stay at a motel/condo for cheap and than book a reasonable charter for a few days. Not looking to spend a whole lot of money.

We would like to do some good bottom fishing and also tuna and billfish if possible.
    Thanks

Throwing the nightlife and low cost limits you.
Keep in mind that South Florida offers accomodations ranging from dive motels on Dixie Highway to the Breakers in Palm Beach, and just about anything in between. And sailfishing can be great in Dec.

Look into Pirates Cove Resort in Port Salerno. Inexpensive rooms, right on the "Pocket" which is only about a mile from the St. Lucie Inlet. Book either Randy Turner on the Hattitude or Scott Fawcett on the Bonshaker.

Cabo has the nightlife and the fishing but can be more expensive.

If you want to fish hardcore, go to Panama.

Thanks want to go south or central america. We are thinking about staying in David Panama and fishing 2-3 days, then maybe going back to Panama city to party the rest? If anyone knows a reasonable charter operation in the area let me know. We are all serious fishermen so, we would like to have things done right, good tackle, and such. We don't need a fancy boat.

Anybody know anything about Margarita Island Venezuela?

Email me for the details amigo. Panama is definitely where you want to go at that time of year.

We are set up in the David-Chiriqui region with Paradise Lodge.

I'll go into the juicy details via email.

Our trip back the end of january to Puerto Jiminez in CR was pretty cheap. We also have another member on here (Thumbs Up) that has a place over at Golfito

Costa Rica is great, but have been there before. I will still consider it though because I do love it.

Once you fish Panama you will not go back to Costa Rica.
Gulf of Chiriqui is excellent choice for catching fish but not nightlife. Thats why there is Panama City. Paradise Lodge is great choice but there is also Panama Sportfishing Lodge which also runs an excellent operation.Whichever lodge you choose you will not be dissapointed.
Panama is awesome and everyone needs to fish there at least once in their lifetime.
If you want more info let me know. I visit Panama 3 to 4 times a year and can answer any questions.

    Keep it domestic

To begin with I suggest at minimum you charter a sf.com contributor or advertiser like capt Josh, who ive never met but appreciate his posts etc.

If not, I would stay in the USA. Try and spend your Dollars at home. We have some amazing local captains throughout our country and many of them are hurting more and more by the economy, restrictions and natural/oil disasters. I have no skin in the game, I don't own a charter or hotel but the more Americans I see struggling the less I want to convert my money into foreign and non reciprocating countries.

Miami alone has an amazing fishery, sailfishing in Dec competes with many badd ass locations. Our nightlife is amazing and hotel prices are much better than you think. If I can suggest local charters, hotels or be of any help let me know via PM.
