Question Best time to fish Jacksonville, FL between now and May?

I have a buddy in law school in Jacksonville Fla and he graduates in May. I am trying to plan a trip down there to do some offshore fishing between now and then but don't know anything about the fishery down there so I have a few questions.

-When does the gulfstream bite start in that area? Looking to target wahoo, dolphin, sails, blackfin.

-How far of a run is it to the stream?

-What's the typical weather pattern down there in the spring, sea conditions and such?

Any help ya'll could give me on this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

if u want wahoo now is the time when the weather allows. Otherwise the late march/april time is good and early may is great. Best weather is late spring. Stream is about 50nm give or take.

    Thanks for the replies.

I didn't realize it was that far of a run to the stream from NE Florida.

Are there any boat ramps ya'll would recommend?

St. Augustine is closer to the ledge than Mayport but you have to be very careful leaving the ramp. If you choose St Auggie then make sure you follow a larger local boat out and save your track for the trip back in. There are a lot of people heading to the ledge to target hoo's tomorrow. Weather windows are sometimes difficult this time of year, especially if you are limited to the weekends. Sometimes we go 2-3 weeks between trips.
