The best month for Blue Marlin

Dear Friends & Fishermen, What is the best month for Blue Marlin?
    NOVEMBER!!!

How would one describe the fishing here on Brazils’ Royal Charlotte Bank, Bloody Fantastic! With the season well and truly started, the annual migration of Blue Marlin is here, with lots of 100 to 300 lb Male Blues here with the Larger Females accompanying them. As you remember Adrenalina arrived in Canavieiras with a 774 Lb Blue and it gets better, 12/11/07 Danny Van Arum, my new boss, fished his first day on his new boat and we raised 11 Blue and released 3.

15/11/07 we had some Brazilian friends from Sao Paulo, Jose Luis, Kaoru Ishitani, Americo & Sang were here to try some Jigging & Marlin Fishing over 3 days. They were not ready for what was about to happen, with no luck jigging for amberjack, we started marlin fishing; the action started straight away, the boys raised 10 blues, a sailfish and released 4 blues and a sailfish. They had never seen anything like this in their life and it was not over!

The next day we started the same Jigging in the morning, with no luck, there were 3 other boats fishing on the bank that day and one passed 200 meter behind us and hooked up to a large blue, which made some spectacular jump close to us, no need to say the jigging was finished with. We were hooked up in minutes and released the 200 lb blue quickly, raised another but no bite; then it was on, we had a triple header all hooked up, 2 fish on the teasers and 5 Blues that I could see. With no luck, we lost the 3 hooked up and could not get the 2 on the teasers to bite, but it was not over; for the rest of the day we raised 21 more Blue Marlin, the most that I have ever raised with this Boat. The previous record I had here was 19 blues raised in a day. There were 5 double headers on this trip.

The boys released 5 Blues for the day and the larger was over 500 lbs. Between the 4 boats there were 50 Blue Marlin raised, 11 released, 1 died and was weighed in at 710 lbs, with 2 others over 600 lbs being released. ASDIP. What else can one say?

The next day stayed good, we only raised 14 Blues and released 3. All together, the boys raised 50 Blues, 1 Sailfish, released 12 Blues and a Sailfish in 3 days of fishing.

On the 20th November we fished Danny, Miguel and wife Eveline; the fishing was still on, with 10 Blues raised and a Sailfish, releasing 3 Blues, 1 over 500lbs and a Sailfish released as well.
In 6 days of fishing on Adrenalina we have raised 78 Blues, released 19 Blues and 2 sailfish, averaging 13 raises a day.

That's a nice shot of that blue there but i have to say a release to raise average of 25% would cause me to beat my anglers and deckhands with a deck brush handle...with as many shots as you are getting 25% is too low...

Just out of curiosity, what kind of hook rigs are you using??? Do you lose most of your fish on the initial run? bite? are you baiting and switching or just trying to stick them on lures?

Hi Josh not good anglers slack line for most missed fish, most of my angler are inexperianced. one hook rigs, switch when we can we normally end up with 50% hook up they feed better this time of year, Nov a lot of fish slap the lure and piss off.

Hey shawn - I got some video from the last trip down there that I want to send you. Can you download video or is the connection still deadly slow?

That sound's like great fishing to me just to see that many blues in a day is very impressive keep up the good work and tight line's.
