Best knot for Braid to Planer

Was talking with one of the other members last night about, what was the best knot to use to tie your planer or z-wing to your down rigger using 200 to 250lb test. I don't know, I've always used wire in the past and don't even own a down rigger now.... But wondering what knot everyone uses? and how about using shower rings to keep you planer down on the braid... anyone doing that?

I second the palomar knot. I pulled 2 #36 old saltys on 200 pound spectra all BFT season and never had an issue.

Spider hitch or surgeons knot for 6-10" double loop then a cats/monkey paw to a coastloc of similar lb test. This allows to change out planers, balls, wings or dredges quickly.

BTH284 has the right idea. You can also tie a uni-knot in the double line to the swivel as well.
