    Best Crimps

Im in the process of ordering all new crimps for the boat. any thoughts on what the best crimps are? I am mainly using them on 80-200 pound leaders. not sure what the difference between the copper lined versus compression swages etc. Momoi, Jinkai, melton brand.... or something else i dont know about.

    Crimps..ahh my pet peave

First of all..this is my opinion..period.

I crimp everyday..making tackle..here is my half assed reasoning..

"JINKAI and only JINKAI, we have found by trying almost every product in our fishing years that JINKAI components consistently are of the highest quality and service. A major part of the reason we believe this is experience, but more importantly, the system is flawless. What do I mean, well think about it, you buy a crimper made by one company because it looks great and does many things, you buy sleeves from another company because of their price and packaging, you buy line from a third company because you caught a fish on it or your buddy likes it. JINKAI has a complete system, what do I mean, well its simple, they manufacture phenominal line, they match set their own crimps, they match set their own crimping tools, they match set the chaffing gear that fits the line. Simple, its uniform no guessing, we insist on it and use it always in rigging. OUR GEAR IS CRIMPED USING JINKAI BENCH AND HAND CRIMPERS AND THE BENCH CRIMPER IS INITIALLY CALABRATED BY JINKAI. THE DIES FOR THE CRIMPS ARE REPLACED ANNUALLY, NO EXCEPTIONS!"

The service we get from Jinkai is impeccable, they are never out of stock and always ship ASAP, no matter the size of our order..

Momoi people never returned calls or emails when we set up the shop..so I have not used their system..I have used the line and to me it is a bit soft..JMHO>

    I agree.

I always use double Jinkai sleeves with Jinkai leader, and Momoi.

You'll find yourself cursing and swearing when you buy Momoi crimps to use with Jinkai leader and it doesn't fit lol.

Question: Whats the difference between the doubles and the singles? Why would you use one over the other?

    Never quite understood that.

i prefer the double barrell coppers because the lines are not up again each other.. i also think it gives it a stronger hold and not as much as a flare on the ends when crimped.

with the two pieces of line touching i find that sometimes it just doesnt hold as nice as the double coppers! oh yeah and they are bronze in color and not nice shiny bright aluminum!! i prefer the copper also as i truly believe it holds up!

i got a few of those friends who leave the stuff in their boxes year after year and only re rig once in a while and the copper crimps hole up a lot better IMHO...

    Niether...

If your making tackle to use all season ie: spreader bars, daisy chains, dredge leads etc. I prefer the BILLFISHER double sleeves they last alot longer. I think that the aluminum chrimps are worthless unless they are only gonna be used for a day then cut off and thrown away. Take a look at an aluminum chrimp after you have fished it for half a season or just fished it for a day then stored it for half the season and you will see what i mean...
