Butterfly jigs and live squid account for 75% of my hook ups, sardines and peanut bunker are 20% and butterfish only 5%. We had a bunch of swords also hit on live squid and peanut bunker this season. Also had a triple hook up of big eyes on the chunk on peanuts. Peanuts and sards need to be salted and kept in a brine asap or they fall apart and will not last. The better they look, the more productive they are. Live peanuts are great if you can get them. We chunk with 80lb flouro and a 6/0 or 7/0 mutu hook or gamakatsu 4x live bait circle. If we mark fish and they are not biting, we will knock down to 70, then 60, then 50 to intice strikes. Remember, when you use lighter leaders, use a little less drag .

I like a tinker mackeral. They are hard to catch sometimes but they are lethal. This sibiki with green on the wings of the flys works th best for them when they are around.

Yep, all the same - sardines, herring, butterfish, jigs, etc. Sometimes we'll pick up bluefish or bonito and set up a shark rig wwww out of the way. Top pick is anything swimming around the boat. Live squid on sword rigs as well as any drift lines. Had porpoise swimming in the lights snarfing up these mystery macks(?). Stuck one on the only small hook we could find and scored when nothing else was working. As they say, match the hatch.
