Bermuda Report 4/30

[Wound Up James]

After a week of boat yard, painting and tackle maintanence, we're happy to be offshore again.

Fished 4/28 for a decent catch of wahoo, a 40lb yellowfin and a mess of almaco jacks. Catching 7yr old Jake Estis' first 2 wahoo (both over 30lb) made a good catch a great day.. Well done Jake !!

I did not have a trip for yesterday, so w/ 13 consecutive trips starting on 5/1 I decided to go alone on a recon mission.. I could have used some help !
Another 40lb yellowfin and 13 wahoo brought the days catch to over 450 lb.
All but one of the fish were caught on 6500 Bait Runners or Tiagra 16's, and only one of the fish was under 32lbs. Great fun on the lighter gear...

Didn't get the chance to get any photos fishing solo, so here's one w/ my Dad from his trip home last fall. The first time we'd fished togeather in 15yrs...
We'll have camera men and women on board from now on, so I'll try to ease up on the text and keep the photos coming...

That hooter fishing over there is something else. When do you guys yellers normally show up? Our were supposed to be here weeks ago but have really arrived yet. Are you guys seeing a bit of a slow start to the tuna season there as well?

they're usually showing good signs by now...a bit of a slow start...caught a few in the last few trips and Pete on the 'Overproof' had a triple of YFT's on Sunday...hope they're the scouts for the mother load that's on route........one thing is for sure - NO shortage of Wahoo....we caught our share today....and pissed away some fatty's......out of the rigger and SCREAMING !!!....and gone....and again.....bstrds.......
