pulled out tuesday nite -11:45pm,we cleared the inlet for a fast moonlit ride to the promised, land - slick calm seas and a brite moon - made for a fast trip
56nm later, after searching the edge for signs of life, bait, was spotted on the fishfinder - anchor was dropped - 20mins later,2 40lb class yellowfin were in the boat - the bite continued - we had the greatest thing ever - a flying fish was swimming around the boat - rich netted him, dropped him on a live bait rig - 5mins later, that rod was screaming with the first bluefin...cool huh ?
we had fish on sardines, butterfish, flying fish - and jigs...pink sardine style butterfly jigs
gave my new OTI spin jigger a good work out - can't say enough good about that set up - saragosa 18000f,OTI 5'2" rod,80lb jb hollow core - top shot of 60lb floro...the pressure you cna put on a big fish is insane - hard to believe...my buddy nelson, doubted the ability of that rod - after watching me kick the crap out of a 50lb class yellowfin,he was a changed man - after jigging a fish up with the rod and fighting it,he was impressed
think he liked it better than my 12/20 everol and a shimano jig stick
total for the day was limit catch of yellowfin and bluefin - one mahi...
we lost a few fish - and had a humback swim under the boat that's an awsome site
good to have a day off...
