Ballyhoos

Can someone please tell me whats up with the Ballyhoos.........I have seen them pack 2 per pack not more then 10in(from the tip to the tail) and sold as Horses.Last week we had a the chance to do a gig with the crew from Sport fishing mag. They said they would pick up the Horse Ballyhoos out of 30packs they had not a one could be rig on an 11/0 hook.Now from what I was told that there haveing a hard time catching the large ones.Anyone one else have a hard time finding the horses Im talking about true Horses.

We still got a surpluss up here in VA .......But no one uses them during the latter end of winter like you all do. Down in FL as it gets colder it is a little more difficult to get them in the nets. Thats all i know hope that is some insite but it's been 10 yrs since i've been able to net them or hook and line them

Heck the last time we went down to FL we fished out of Lake Worth and a local told us about where to start and we jig them up along with some nice gogs 30ft of water 3 miles south of the inlet. They said thats where most of the bait boats go to get-em.The hoos were small to med. the gogs we got were about 8in and we did not have to spend 120doz for them.

The bait situation down here this year sucks in a bad way. I Found some medium packs that had bigger hoos than what I have been seeing sold as select or horse even. I dug into a couple packs of store boughts last week and though they looked great they blew up within about 15-20 minutes each at 6.2 knots. I tried ordering big hoos fresh from local guys, bionics, from the keys, from bluewater and have found nothing I feel good about dragging behind my boat. Even baitmasters has been tough to even get a call back from. I am squeezed for just this wahoo tourney and the marlin tourney after that I'm in a world of hurt.
I have 18 genuine horse class that I caught in the keys this year. 12 more dozen medium small from there too. Only have 7 packs of 6 pack selects and 4 dozen big mediums I feel good about from other sources... I need at least 5 more six packs and 4 more dozen big mediums for just the wahoo tournament. Then I'm gonna need 30 six pack and 10 big medium for the Bacardi...
