    Bait Trays?????????

After seeing the thread about bait trays go in all sorts of directions
I thought it would be pretty cool to get a thread about homemade solutions to the bait storage problem.
So, let's hear everyone's best homemade tricks for storing bait, mainly trolling baits, and pictures are always a major plus

After reading the previous post,I just went out and bought a stainless steel, steaming tray(perforated) for less than twenty bucks. I never thought about using one of those, but thanks to SFC I just saved 80 bucks, that I can use now to buy bait,to put in my new tray.

I use a wet towel on top of a 40# bag of ice in the fish box.

The grid is an inexpensive light fixture item from Home Depot. It's about 1/2" thick plastic and one of them can be cut to make 3 grids suitable for a 60 QT Igloo.

I put a few pieces of shoe-box size block ice in the bottom of the cooler, then fill around the blocks with bagged cubes, making it level. Then I drop in one or two of these plastic grids, lay the rigged ballyhoo on them and brine them down. The 80-100 lb mono leaders hang out the front of the cooler. I just bundle them together and wrap them around and behind the cooler, and gently shove the cooler next to the bulkhead on a non-skid rug. When I take out a hoo, a light tug pulls the leader out from behind the cooler.

As the ice melts the grid settles with it, but the baits never touch water.

It sets on my engine cover between the rocket launcher and the transom and in never in the way. It's on a non-skid rug and the handles are bungied on both sides, and it has never tried to shift around.

    Mrs. Capt-D, Liam and Avery!
My tray that I bent and braised/welded for free out of some scrap sheet stainless. Not perfect, but was built to fit the bait tray of the 48 oocean I work.

Tried to get fancy and drill holes out in the shape of a marlin, but gave up after I broke 2 bits! Besides, who is going to see it anyway with it coverd with baits!
