Can any of your good fishermen (and fisherwomen) give me an idea of what to expect offshore off Long Island Bahamas? Trolling north tip for wahoo is what I have heard most often. Planning first trip to Bahamas in 15 years! Thanks in advance!

You nailed it right on... Its pretty much all about wahoo. Maybe some small yellowfins...
Thats a way long way to go....If you pulled up closer to home say up around highbourne cay you'ld fid big dolphin and sails in good supply...
DeepC...where is highbourne cay please? Thanks much! I love wahoo, but, would like to get into light on dolphin. Are you local? Thanks!
I'm out of Palm Beach but do a load of Guiding over in the islands... Highbourne is well up the exumas from long island... It's not terribly far from nassau... The mahi are thick in that area as are sails... Some wahoo and yellowfin but more the others. Some marlin in there to be had as well.
I used to run a neat trip many moons ago. It involved a quick cross to Cat Cay... We cleared customs and would get a good half day trying our luck there. The next morning at first light we used to shoot to the Pocket about 60 miles east. We worked that area til say 1 or near 2 oclock then trolled up to the morgans Bluff area and then dashed to Nassau... From there we shot down to Highbourne and beat on the dolphin. There used to be a club at cape eleuthera on the other side of the sound that we frequented but its no longer there. That area between the two teemed with fish. Sometimes we got wild hairs up our butt and headed to little san salvador when it was deserted and anchored overnight. At night we beat the ever living hell out of mutton snappers and yellowtails in the little cove there...
You wont have a problem catching dolphin in march down long island. I am in Cat island right now and the dolphin are already here and LI is just 20 miles away
