Thumbs down Bad news!

My 2005 24 vector hydrasport has a leak in the gas tank and has to go back to the factory. Has any one had an experience like this? Tank wont hold pressure. Dealer says top cap has to come off to get to the tank to be replaced.

They say my entire cap has to come off. Hope it can be done quickly, my fears are that even done by the factory it will make the boat not as solid as i it was when it was new.

I would think it shouldn't affect the integrity of the boat. Those boats the hull and top cap are made completely seperate and screwed together from the get go. The seam is usually hidden by the rub rail. Again who better to know than the people who originally did the job the first time.

Just my thought maybe someone who knows more about boat building can chime in.
