Back from Mexico

Timmy Lehman, Richie McCann, his wife Debbie and I made the crossing on Contango from Isla to Key West in about 24 hours, about a week ago. Seas breezed up pretty good for the last half of the trip, we did the last 150 miles in a 8 ft head sea , the wind pushed her right up against the current.

Had some 10's mixed in. Back her down to approx 12 knots, we chugged at night and took our time in a rough sea, no need to beat the boat up, nor ourselves. Boat ran fine, just a long trip, we ran with a Viking out of Palm Beach, very good to have the buddy system making the 300+ crossing, as Timmy says, nice to have a 65 ft life raft next to you off of Cuba !!

Ended up stuck in Key West for 3 days due to the high winds out of the NE, not a bad place to be at the dock !!, that town is a blast, has the fun meter pegged at 11 !!, my first time. I could stay there and never come home !!

Anyhow, cleaned out the camera of some fishing shots from Isla, great time down there. Enjoyed the time in Mexico,my thanks go out to Jimmy, Keith, and Ruben for a great time in Mexico, and to Timmy, Richy, and Debbie for joining for the ride back to the US, and John Raimundo for all of his help in Isla. Boat is back at Jarrett Bay for some spring maintenance.

Glad you had a nice trip in Mexico! When are you heading up to OC?

Robert, good to hear from you, plan is to fish stay in NC for now, do some fishing out of Morehead, then fish Big Rock, and HMC with the JBBW gang. Heading north after Hatteras in June. We will see you in OC at some point.
