I am currently fishing the Bacardi Rum Billfish Tournament from Port Lucaya, Bahamas. The boat is a 57 ft Bertram, the Divine Intervention. It's a four day tournament, with about 12 boats entered.
Day 1 we caught a very small blue marlin about 120 lbs. The only blue marlin caught that day, good enough to win the daily calcutta.
Day 2, we caught a slightly bigger blue marlin, about 225 lbs. One other boat caught a blue, but after we caught ours. So, by time, we also won the daily calcutta for the day.
We are currently sitting in first place with 800 points (400 for each blue marlin), 2nd place has 400 points (1 blue marlin) and 3rd place 225 points (3 sailfish). No other billfish have been caught in the 2 days of fishing. Hopefully, we can hold on to bring home more money.
