ALOHA!
FOR THOSE THAT NEED TO KNOW WHERE THE SUCESSFULL CAPTAINS ARE FISHING WHY DON'T YOU START A THREAD TOPIC " HOW DO I FIND TUNA?" OR "WHAT CAN YOU GUYS TELL ME ABOUT SEASONAL MIGRATIONS FOR YFT?"
I'M NOT TRYING TO BE A WISE GUY. I JUST THINK THE BEST WAY TO LEARN IS TO BE SCHOOLED IN HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM,,,INSTEAD OF WHERE TO ASK FOR THE ANSWER
IF FOUR GUYS LOOK AT CHARTS AND SEPERATELY FIGURE ON FISHING A SPOT..THAT'S FINE,,BUT IF THEY EACH HAVE SOMBODY GRAVY TRAINING, YA WIND UP WITH A PARKING LOT
ASK AWAY
AHI
First thing, I am not asking for the numbers.I know he fishes out of Cape May and said a long ride. Is it far north or south? I have read a lot of his reports and they are very informative to say the least. I don't have a problem finding my own fish but fuel is a little pricey and like to keep as much of it in the tank as possible. By the way thank you john!

The fish are being caught between the Lindy and the Spencer. It's no big secret they have been there for a while
I agree. "Reports" without general locations are not reports, they are solicitations to entice charter fares. I have no problem with this, other than the fact they should be posted in an area designated for such solicitations.Originally Posted by Square Head
Well....If thats the way you want to fish then so be it. But you will always be chasing after somone elses fish.
And as for fuel costs...If you have a million dollar boat and still look for a hand-out you should be ashamed of yourself. I have a 25 footer and can't afford to put 2 nickels to a dime. Do I look for handouts - absolutely not! 100% self made bro!

It is called WORKING TOGETHER. So sharing info with other captains is akin to begging on the corner?? See, the thing is, I am a lousy fisherman. I need all the help I can get.Originally Posted by TommyT

Now come on guys... That bashing type stuff is better suited to other sites... This is "America's Fishing Site". We take in the wretched refuse from all over. No matter what sites they have ben kicked out of.What seperates us from those sites is the lack of bashing.

John is on a hot bite of fish and isn't required to spill all the info if he feels that even a mention of north or south might send some one up his scuppers. I see it all too often it starts with one , then you wind up with a fleet putting down the fish. Promotion is part of the game its how guys like John and I feed our families. If he's got a hot bite going on then he should be allowed to say just that. That's all that would be relevant to a potential charter. They don't care where or what as long as the rods get bent...
Sharing info is touchy. there are days I will point out to the last gps number where I'm producing. Other days if I feel the spot is pressure sensitive my lips are sealed.

Ok Paul,
Here is my point. The single most important thing (to me, anyway) of any fishing bbs is quality reports (including general locations). Reports without complete information are really not reports at all.
You know the fine print that says "advertisement" at the top of a magazine article? They really save time by allowing you to skip them. I certainly appreciate the need of professionals to attract fares. I have no argument with that. I just feel each need should be served in its own appropriate fashion, that is all.
