    Australia Fishing March

    All,

I am hoping that work projects will take me to Australia. The time frame would be March 2009. I am hoping to add on some personal time and want nothing more than to fish while I am there. I will be in the E/SE/S corner, Brisbane, Sydney, Marleston/Adelaide,Shepparton/Melbourne.

Anyone know how the fishing is in March?

If so, any charters to recommend?

I am looking for marlin, tuna etc...

    Thanks!

I may not be 100% accurate on this one, so do some research, but around March April time there seems to be some excellent blue marlin fishing on the Gold Coast (Brisbane area). From the reports that have come up it seems to be some of the hottest fishing for Pacific blues in the world. Very exciting sounding fishery that I'd really like to see one day. If you're in Sydney the Port Stephens area should be fishing very well at that time. Three way mix of blacks, stripeys and blues.

Patudo - Thanks for the info. Sounds like March is a good time to be there.

Not real sure about the fishing that time of year. If you get a day off, head to Byron Bay. It's about a 2 hour drive south of Brisbane. It was one of my favorite places in OZ.

Sydney in March has a great choice of species available including Big blue Marlin, striped marlin, black marlin, spearfish, Tuna and Dorado. I will be fishing this season with my just built custom 21ft CC.........The begining of March is also a very special time just 2 hours north of Sydney. We have a major fishing tournament held at Port Stephens. This attracts over 250 vessels which mainly target Marlin. Action over the years at this time has boats with up to 16 fish tagged in a day....Not uncommon for tagging a couple at least. Most fishing at this tournament is done by live baiting............If you want to join me for a fish when in Sydney, PM me and we will get the ball rolling.......
My 2008 225HP Optimax is being fitted next weekend and cant wait to take the newly finished project for a run...Already striped and black Marlin have showed off Sydney so this season looks to be a good one. If its anything like the YFT run we had in June/July it will be a ripper!!!!!!!!

Ultimate Lady captured Austarlias first 1080LB Blue marlin recently

Lots of reports in the gamefishing forums wich will help for sure!!!!!
Need any more info let me know.
