My buddy is thinking of taking the boat down to Charleston in a couple of weeks and was wondering if there are any fish offshore around there this time of year.

Offshore is a gamble, but when is it not..Thers is always the shot @ a Bluefin. But I did have a great trip a couple yrs ago on my CC outta MHC in early Feb. catching several nice Mahi and a Yellowbelly..
Good Luck.

been sorta rough so not a lot of accurate reports right now.
most boats right now are bottom fishing
there are probably sailfish out there and wahoo can be caught at the SW Banks high speed trolling.
I would not hesitate to go trolling this time of the year, just prob need to go a little deeper.

Thanks for the input. Looks like they are bumping up the schedule and planning to leave Hampton, VA this afternoon/evening and head south towards Charleston. Running all night and would love to fish somewhere tomorrow morning.
They would prefer trolling for pelagics. If anyone hears of anything good post it up and I will call them on the sat phone with a report. If there are specific spots they should try this weekend off Charleston (like SW bank) let me know.
Any advice is appreciated.![]()
dude ,
the pink Bellied Snappers are in season right now , you do however have to wiggle your worm in the correct manner. The night Bite I havew heard can be outanding especially on a friday and saturday night.
Good luck and have too much fun.

it just depends on how far you guys make it tonite. If if you don't make it that far south, pull back around southport early and try for a bluefin at the knuckle bouy early, Then head south and then back in about anywhere you want. But if you do make it that far it'd be a shame not to hit the georgetown hole area. There was a real nice break a little south of there yesterday . morning on the sst chart. SW banks will be on your way back in.
Good luck!
