Thumbs up ANYONE GOING TO VEATCHES CANYON THIS WEEKEND???

It looks like the weather is going to cooperate for a Veatches Canyon overnight trip this coming weekend. I beleive that I will be leaving Montauk Point at 9PM running to the West wall of Veatches where we will swordfish till the sun starts breaking through. We will spend the day trolling and then another night of swordfishing if the weather looks like it is going to hold returning on Monday after a morning of trolling. Anyone else going to go???

I will be on channel #68, boat name is XIAO MU JI (she-ouh-moo-gee). Give a shout and I will do the same...its a big ocean out there. Capt. Mty

Just a little FYI....I heard that the water clarity is not that great out there....the temp charts sure make it tempting, but I've heard it's only surface heating.... the water is 7-10 deg colder less than 20 feet down....may want to double check before you spend the time and fuel....

I got in my truck to come home tonight and looked at my Garmin 376C XM Weather GPS unit and WOW what a storm cell rolling is throuhg L.I. tonight. I am going to the boat tomorrow around noon to do some final tweeks to the boat and tackle. My fishing partner is pressuring me to stay inshore and go for the giant July Moon Stripers. So, on Friday night I am eeling and that will make my final desission on wether we go long or stay short.

Next weekend I am going offshore for sure looking to put some tuna slabs in the freezer for the Monster Shark Tournament in Martha Vineyard we are doing the weekend of the 20th. It looks like SPIKE TV is going to film this tournament and we may have a film crew if all goes well. The last TV show I did with Tred was getting pulled out of the drink by the helicopters from the Air National Guard. We got blown out of doing an offshore overnight show due to the weather.

Tred moved to Colorado two weeks ago and I spoke with him today about doing a Mule Deer traditional bow show this fall. I can't beleive hes is not here running the ocean for the summer.

Thanks Bigeye!....I hate to see anyone make that long trip when things just aren't happening.

    Hey Ironwood-

Where do you dock at Montauk? I'll be out there Mon-Wed next week. I have a slip over at Snug Harbor. Maybe we can tell some Tred stories over a beer. I heard Tred was moving to Colorado, but I thought he was still spending summers on LI.

    Good luck Capt!

    Ironwood,

I will see you at the OB Monster shark , would love to check out that battleship of yours.

We took a film crew 2 years ago, its like having a 4 year old with a camera on board, a million stupid questions and always in the way.

You might want to reconsider, but maybe you have more patience than me .
