Anyone been to Ecuador for Marlin?

I am heading to Ecuador in April on a solo surf trip. Shooting for Montanita, Manta area. Wondering if anyone has any info on boats in the area. Looking for a day trip or two for Marlin. Any info would be great.

    Thanks

It was OK the crew weren't overly energetic or honest but that didn't surprise me after having spent a lot of time in Latin America.

Certainly there are lots of fish but there's also a huge commercial effort going on around you all day long, expect the crew to kill everything they can.

I 'accidentally' messed up gaffing one fish (small Marlin) for a quick release the crew almost cried, I tipped the Cook in private an extra $20 for my 'mistake' he was OK the other two were slackers.

Check with Pete Santini on this site- he is out of the Galapagos, but I am sure he has some knowledge about the "mainland" too.

If it is 1/4th as good as the galapagos you will have a great trip

    Cool

I saw two of those giant Bigeye, one was tied to the swim grid the back of a sport boat and was well over 100kg, the other looked to be the size of my living room couch.

It slowly came up/looked at the lures we had and sunk down.......
